TED TALKS THAT ARE GETTING US THINKING THIS MONTH

POSTED BY LAUREN ON 29th OCTOBER 2018

There are a lot of people involved or interested in the legal sector who are publicly articulating their thoughts via TED’s multiple forms. Whilst some have the luxury to browse youtube in order to stumble across such talks, we are aware that that isn’t the case for everyone.

Here is our first month round- up of TED Talks that got us thinking!

This Talk by Sofia Ranchordas back in April 2015 really got us thinking. Her analogies are specific and her reasoning behind her suggested approach to legislation and innovation is plausible.

We liked the idea that legislation could be seen as more time specific, although it is questionable whether the words Sofia has chosen would catch on for those within the legal sector.

Our takeaway from this video is, to paraphrase Sofia; Right laws at the right time in the right mindset – because just as innovations aren’t permanent, laws don’t need to be either.

‘What makes lawyers click?’ really validates what we are doing and motivates us to keep pushing. Ruairidh encourages young lawyers coming into a firm to question the status quo when it comes to processes and task assignment and we really back this. The way he talks about the profession and what can be brought to the profession is a good starting point for anyone interested in innovation in this sector.
